If you've been playing Battlefield 1 online for the past few days, you'll have noticed that when it comes finally time to put down your bayonet for the evening and retire back to the real world for a brandy and a story about Fritz and Tommy, it's actually quite hard to leave. That's because there is no quit button in the menu system in between rounds of Battlefield 1 and that's somewhat by design.
The reason there's no option there, is because the next map is already loading and DICE didn't want that process interrupted. It means that the next level loads up quickly and gets people playing again without interruption - which is great if you want to keep playing, but naff if you just want to go to bed.
It's also causing problems of lots of people leaving just as a new game round starts, which leads to unbalanced teams and other issues.
DICE is aware of the problem according to VG247, but doesn't plan to add a quit button to the stats screen any time soon. What it may do, is let you "queue to quit," which would essentially quit you out as soon as the next map loads, but that's hardly any more efficient or quick for those who want out.
With no plans for a lobby system either, there isn't much hope of this changing fundamentally any time soon. So expect to wait when you want to leave. Maybe it could be considered an analogy of the war itself? That seems a bit of a stretch though.
