Once the news got out that Bungie became independent of Microsoft, fans started to question if Bungie will work on future Halo games and if they would develop games for consoles other than Xbox 360.
Microsoft still owns the Halo IP but Bungie isn't going to be leaving the franchise any time soon.
"For the foreseeable future, whether it is Halo 3 downloadable content or the Peter Jackson project, the Bungie studios team is... our fates are still intertwined with Halo," said Brian Jarrard, Bungie's community and franchise director. "So, we obviously want to do all we can to make sure that the franchise continues to grow in all the right ways."
"We are definitely still tied to Halo. We are still going to be working with them on Halo and potentially some future projects, but like I said, for us it was just what we needed to do creatively as a group to evolve and be able to focus on the future."
Bungie won't be making Wii or PS3 games either. "The Xbox has given us lot of success so, for now, our eyes are set on the Xbox 360. We're not in a situation where we're running out the door and grabbing Wii and PS3 development kits," Bungie spokspeson Brian Jarrard told Reuters. "There's not a real intention to do that [work on other platforms] unless something changes down the road."
