Game-breaking bug still plaguing Indiana Jones and the Great Circle over a month after release

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle launched over a month ago on PC and Xbox, but players are still reporting a game-breaking bug, with no patch in sight from MachineGames as yet.

News in brief

  • Players first reported the bug a few days after release.
  • Some players completing “The Blessed Pearl” quest have found Indie can’t shimmy through wall gaps and climb vines or ladders.
  • MachineGames/Bethesda suggested a workaround on the game’s official Discord, but there’s no official fix yet.

There’s nothing more annoying than being unable to complete a game due to a bug, as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle players have discovered. The bug, first reported a few days after the game’s release on 9th December, relates to “The Blessed Pearl” quest, one of the game’s final missions.

Some players on Reddit and other platforms have reported issues with the mission, where Indie can’t shimmy his way through wall gaps and climb vines or ladders. Strangely, he’s still able to whip swing, vault, and complete other actions. The bug seems to somehow be linked to NPC Sunan in the Sukothai village area. Some players report success fixing the bug by approaching the character and spamming the action button. Others find themselves soft-locked in the temple area and unable to get back to Sunan to try this out.

Though this bug was reported over a month ago, it was still plaguing players a few days ago, and at the time of writing, there’s no sign of a fix yet. Developer MachineGames has acknowledged the bug, but there’s no word yet when we can expect the action-adventure game’s next update.

According to a post on Reddit, MachineGames or Bethesda replied to a player on the game’s official Discord on December 16th, saying a workaround could be to “try to get back to Sunan in the village, and then leave the village naturally.” This likely means rolling back a couple of saves to get out of the temple, then fast-traveling back to the village, if possible.

Hopefully, we’ll see a fix sooner rather than later, so those impacted by this bug can finally complete the game!
