Three years after it made its iOS debut, The Room 3 from Fireproof Games is finally being ported to Steam. It's said to have been given a complete "visual overhaul for PC", as per PC Gamer, which delivers better lighting, higher-quality textures, and higher overall resolution support for far greater visual fidelity than was possible on smartphone devices.
The original The Room was released on iOS in 2012 and proved popular enough to port to a number of different platforms. Typically, though, it takes a while for those experiences to make their way to PC. The first The Room didn't hit Steam until 2014. The Room 2 was released on mobiles in 2013, only to be released on Steam three years later in 2016 and now we have a three-year gap between the Room 3's mobile and PC releases too.
If you've played the previous The Room games, you'll know what to expect in The Room Three. There are puzzles, there are spooks and jump scares, there is a very loose story of some sort of otherworldly happenings that have a little hint of Lovecraft in the background somewhere.
While that might sound like a disparaging of the game, but it's not. The Room series is fantastic and has beautifully designed puzzles and environments to explore and play with. This third entry even has a relatively open end to the game with multiple branching possibilities. Look forward to its launch on Steam on November 13.
