Red Dead Redemption 2 has topped the PlayStation 4 downloads chart for the third consecutive month, according to figures released by PlayStation last week.
News in brief
- Red Dead Redemption 2 is the most downloaded PS4 title for February across the US and Canada.
- In Europe, it was beaten to the top spot by Kingdom Come: Deliverance II.
- The game also saw a peak player count of almost 100,000 on Steam at the start of February.
Though Red Dead Redemption 2 topped the charts in the US and Canada, it only reached third place in Europe, down from second place in January. Battlefield V took second place, with medieval RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance II topping the European PS4 downloads chart. For Red Dead Redemption 2, this figure includes downloads to PS5 consoles, as the western isn't a PS5 release.
Kingdom Come Deliverance: II, which launched at the start of February, also topped the most downloaded PS5 titles chart for February in the EU, but was beaten to the top of the US/Canada chart by Monster Hunter Wilds, which was released on February 28.
2025 is set to be a big year for Rockstar Games
It's been a great year for Rockstar Games so far. Last month, it revealed that Red Dead Redemption 2 has sold 70 million copies and is close to being the sixth best-selling game of all time. The total for the RDR franchies hit 95 million copies.
GTA V is also doing well, despite being 12 years old this year. It was the eighth most downloaded PS4 game in January across the US and Canada and Europe and was the sixth most downloaded PS4 title in February for the same region. On PS5, it was the fifth most downloaded game this month in the US and Canada and the fourth most downloaded title for Europe.
We've still got GTA VI to look forward to at some point later this year. There's still no firm release date, but we can expect to see the next entry in the GTA franchise this fall.
