This mod enhances enemy abilities, spells, and buffs with easy user configuration. It allows you to adjust combat difficulty and modify it to your specific needs as a player.
Combat Extender
Adjust the health, stats, abilities, spells and other buffs of enemies with easy user configuration. Whereas there are multiple combat mods, they tend to be outdated, abandoned or aren't really suitable for a serious campaign as they randomly give spells and abilities to enemies. This mod allows you to easily adjust and modify enemy abilities, spells and hitpoints while staying true to the original game design.
The picture is just an example of what it can do, double action and double bonus action makes the game significantly more difficult!
Setup Guide:
Click here for the setup guide.
Ready to use configuration files: (follow the guide above until point 13)
- 5e Spells (recommended) & 5e Spells (no stats or health adjustments)
- Stronger Bosses and Enemies
- Player Level Scaling
NOTE: Levels don't do much in BG3 as NPCs aren't like players. You can replicate any difficulty without level scaling. Only use this if you know what you are doing.
Short version:
- Download the latest release and install
- Load a savefile, the default configuration will be generated
- Adjust the configuration to your liking, you can reload a quicksave to have the mod read your new settings
- Optionally: For an easier to read configuration copy paste this one.
For Multiplayer only the host has to customize the config file.
Combat Extender AI (CX AI)
Features:
- Largely removes vanilla artificial "stupidity"
- Focus firing is encouraged instead of discouraged
- Use more crowd control abilities and spells against players
- Reduce restrictions on positioning and spell/effect combinations
- De-prioritize player summoned creatures
How to use CX AI?
Simply download the latest CX AI release and install.
Can I use it to replace other AI mods?
Yes, one is abandoned by its creator and the other one causes crashes. CX AI is a safe drop-in replacement for your existing campaign.
What does Combat Extender do?
It tags enemies based on archetypes using an override method. In turn these tags are used to dynamically add extra abilities, spells or passives. Besides tagged enemies it applies global boosts in the form of additional hitpoints, movement range or (bonus) actions and more based on a configuration file.
If you want to change the configuration, you can easily add, remove or customize entries! The config file is created on first load and can be found in %localappdata%\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\Script Extender (Use WINKEY + R, then paste).
I can recommend you use JSON Editor Online if you have never worked with JSON files before, alternatively you might want to grab Visual Studio Code
What is your default config in English?
As starter I highly recommend you read the excellent BG3 wiki for Armour Class (AC), Attack Rolls and Saving Throws. In general I designed this mod with easy configuration in mind, while keeping the default config a good starting point.
