Kingdom Come Deliverance II's huge 1.2 patch landed last Thursday, and, as expected, brought with it official modding support for the medieval RPG via Steamworks, as well as delivering hundreds of gameplay fixes and adjustments.
News in brief
- Modding is now available for PC users on Steam.
- Players can modify over 300 different game elements.
- The patch also brings over 1,000 other fixes and improvements.
According to Warhorse Studips, official modding support for Kingdom Come: Deliverance II will allow players to "modify over 300 elements of the game — from UI and combat mechanics to RPG elements and AI behaior — allowing for anything from subtle tweaks to complete overhauls."
Mods for Kingdom Come: Deliverance II have been available for a while now via Nexus Mods, but the addition of Steam Workshop support should make it easier to find and install mods. So far, we've seen mods that transform all the game's characters to skeletons, turn chickens into dinosaurs, and even adjust the jiggle physics.
Patch 1.2 also brought over 1,000 other fixes and improvements, plus the free Barber DLC allowng players to switch up Henry's hair style and beard style.
Amongst the performance improvements are improvements to frame rate stability in the battle parts of quests and optimized streaming of NPC visuals , especially in Kuttenberg.
The patch also delivered a number of platform-specific fixes across PS5, Xbox, Steam Deck, and Windows, including a fix for audio stuttering for PS5 players when playing with headphones connected to a controller.
There are far too many adjustments to combat to list here, with a full list of all the new features and improvements available in the extensive patch notes. However, here are a few notable adjustments:
- Being hit no longer interrupts players drawing their weapon.
- Damage from hits from multi-hit combos is increased.
- Improved animation for transitioning into aiming with the crossbow.
- A shory delay has been introduced between melee attacking an opponent while not locked on to reduce the effectiveness of attack spamming.
As expected, we're still waiting on the game's Hardcore Mode, which Warhorse promises to deliver later this spring.
