Team17, the developer and publisher behind games like the Worms series and upcoming horror title Allison Road, has announced that it will be publishing Way to the Woods, a game by 16 year old developer Anthony Tan.
The game puts players in control of a deer and her fawn, exploring a strange world where nothing is quite as it seems, and surreal reality bending is not uncommon.
While screenshots for the game were only published online a few weeks ago, it has already received mass acclaim from a variety of developers, including Hello Games, the studio currently putting together No Man's Sky.
Tan has since founded his own developer, Studio Happy Bee, and plans to continue developing the game to its completion, but has already secured more work providing art for the upcoming Owlchemy Labs VR title, Job Simulator. No doubt the release of his game will eventually lead to more opportunities, as even if it's far from perfect, even building an entire game by yourself at that age is a huge achievement, and a sign that he is driven enough to make it in a very tough industry.
"To join a label that is responsible for helping teams such as Playtonic, Lilith, Mouldy Toof and many more is like a dream come true!" said Tan. "I’m so excited to be working with an experienced label like Team17 and I’m confident that it’s the right positive step for Way to the Woods."
