After closing down for five years Duke Nukem studio, 3D Realms, is reopening for business.
Earlier this year, 3D Realms was acquired by Danish firm SDN Invest. The Danish firm then restructured the studio and appointed new leadership which devised a business plan that involves relaunching the development operations to release a bundle of legacy titles such as Duke Nukem 3D and Math Rescue as well as developing new games and – eventually – launching a developer incubator program.
3D Realms is currently operating in close partnership with Interceptor Entertainment, a Danish development studio partially owned by SDN Invest. Interceptor CEO Frederik Schreiber serves as vice president of 3D Realms, alongside newly-appointed CEO Mike Nielsen.
