Sources "close to Take-Two" revealed that GTA IV's publisher estimates the game's sales to surpass $400 million during its first week in market.
The unnamed source spoke to Hollywood trade paper, Variety. He explained that publishers' predictions are usually accurate because they are based on retailers' orders.
The biggest videogame launch to date is accredited to Halo 3 which managed to garner $300 million in its first retail week. Blockbuster CEO Jim Keyes said that GTA IV will likely do "two times the volume" that Halo 3 did for his chain, while GameStop senior vice president of merchandising Bob McKenzie said the game is currently tracking slightly behind Microsoft's three-quel.
