Microsoft has officially launched a pilot program at Microsoft Stores in the United States to test a new pricing model for the Xbox 360.
Specifically, the 16 Microsoft Stores in the U.S. will sell the Xbox 360 4GB console with Kinect for $99 with a two-year Xbox LIVE Gold commitment of $14.99 per month.
The total cost of the bundle is $458.76 (for the upfront fee plus the 2 years subscription cost), which is almost $75 more than the cost of buying the same Xbox 360 SKU + Kinect + 2 Xbox LIVE Gold membership cards ($299.99 for the hardware + $59.99*2 for the 2 years subscription = $419.97).
