Activision Publishing boss Eric Hirshberg is confident that Destiny is going to be the studio’s third billion dollar franchise.
"We strongly believe we are on pace to set the all-time pre-order record for a new IP," he said during an Activision Blizzard earnings call today.
"Based on what we've seen we believe that Destiny has the potential to become the third active billion dollar franchise in the Activision Publishing portfolio," he added.
Activision Blizzard already have two billion dollar franchises, the annualized cash cow A.K.A. Call of Duty and the two years old augmented reality kids’ game series Skylanders.
Destiny is developed by Bungie, the studio famous for developing Halo. The game is set for released early in 2014 on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
