Although Bungie was all inclusive with the launch of its online shooter, Destiny, by making it available on both Xbox 360 and PS3, as well as the newer-gen systems, there is a problem there. The new expansion, the Taken King, requires at least 10GB of install space, with PS3 gamers needing closer to 20GB.
With some of that generation's systems coming with just 20GB of hard drive space in total, that presents a bit of a problem, since they don't have the space required to continue playing with the new expansion.
While it would be quite reasonable to ask the people with near 10 year old consoles to simply buy themselves an external storage solution, Activision is actually going so far as to offer free USB drives to some gamers that ask for them. If you have a 20GB or less storage console, simply contacting Activision via its storage request form will give you the chance to net a free 32GB USB stick.
While you cannot install the Taken King update on that drive itself, you can use it to clear out the rest of your console's hard drive to make space for the new expansion.
If you're thinking this might just be a publicity stunt, you may be right, but there have been some accounts of Activision following through with it so far. In the case of one Gamespot reader, they were sent a 32GB USB 3.0 drive when they asked Activision for one.
Quite a sweet deal if you need some extra drive space.
