The official sequel to the, sort-of-well-received Afro Samurai game released back on the Xbox 360 is set for release in just under two weeks time. Developed by Redacted Studios, the game sees Kuma taking his revenge on Afro, but of course in typical fashion, there's a lot of people he's got to go through first.
This time around the game is simpler, smoother and has been well received by those that have tried it. It will also feature the same strength as the original anime series: a soundtrack with the Rza's influence. He and WuTang haven't made this one themselves, but they did help produce a number of young and upcoming hip-hop artists, that they hope will gain important exposure as part of the topic.
One of those young guns is showcased in the new musical trailer for the game:
"A lot of blood, sweat and tears went into getting Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma to this launch," said Steve Escalante, GM of Versus Evil. "The developer, Redacted Studios, has been dreaming of launching this game, the way you are going to play it and experience it over the course of several volumes. It is a hip-hop opera that folds in a tragic family story with action-packed samurai action and a soundtrack from some amazing indie hip-hop artists. We can’t wait for the fans to get to experience the next phase in Afro Samurai action."
However this is just that one perspective, as others may be explored in coming chapters. This first one is just a taste of what the three distinct volumes of Afro Samurai 2 will be about.
