Puppy Games today announced that Alien Flux, their ground breaking web based arcade game, went live today to coincide with the game's US preview at JavaOne taking place in San Francisco 9-13 June. One of only a handful of Java based games in the world, Alien Flux is being heralded as a flagship for Java gaming by Sun Microsystems, who will be demonstrating the game on their booth at the show.
We wanted to develop a game that demonstrated the huge potential that Java-based gaming has to offer. Admittedly, this was fairly uncharted territory but something we were not afraid to tackle, said Caspian Rychlik-Prince, MD at Puppy Games. Our aim was to create an action packed game that challenged the game players' powers of speed and dexterity whilst remaining accessible to all abilities, and we believe Alien Flux does just that.
Alien Flux combines totally original gameplay, modern pseudo-3D graphics and unique sound effects to create a fast and furious shoot-em up style arcade game, the aim of which is to rescue Fluffies (the cutest creatures in the universe), from invading forces from the fifth dimension. Compatible with both Windows and Linux operating systems the full version of Alien Flux incorporates:
-16 unique evil aliens from the 5th dimension
-4 massive and fiendish bosses
-8 cute fluffy friends that need your help
-12 powerups to help you in your mission
-100 levels of blistering arcade action in which to battle
-online hiscore table - be the best in the world!
With MacOS X support planned later this year, Alien Flux will be accessible on the Puppy Games website which will form the hub of an online community that will evolve to incorporate news and forums and act as a platform for future projects.
