AMD's new RX 5700 RDNA-based, Navi graphics cards haven't made a huge splash on the industry, but they are pretty competitive with Nvidia's RTX 2060 Super and 2070 Super cards, at a decent price. With custom-cooling versions set to hit in the next few weeks, that market could become even more competitive. But if that's not enough for you, never fear. AMD is also working on some future Navi graphics cards which could challenge the Nvidia RTX 2080 Super or even the 2080 Ti.
These full-fat Navi cards will be based on the same 7nm architecture, but feature far more compute units and stream processors. While clock speed may reduce, these potential RX 5800 or even 5900 cards, would be the most powerful graphics cards AMD has ever released.
When asked about these GPUs during a Q&A, AMD CEO Lisa Su said (via Videocardz) that they weren't far away.
Q: Can you give us a sense on 7nm high-end NAVI and mobile 7nm CPUs
A: You asked a good product question. I would say they are coming. You should expect that our execution on those are on track and we have a rich 7nm portfolio beyond the products that we have already announced in the upcoming quarters.
If AMD came out with a card that could compete with the 2080 Ti, how much would you be willing to pay for it?
