If you have an AMD graphics card and a FreeSync 2 supporting monitor but feel like you're not sure what kind of effect the technology is having on your gameplay, AMD's new Oasis demo might be what you need. It supports both FreeSync 2 and HDR and showcases just how much of a difference the frame syncing technology can have in preventing screen tearing in games and scenes which have widely disparate demands on your GPU.
The demo itself is quite pretty, reminiscent of 3DMark demos of a few years gone, but the real showcase is the in-depth control you can have in the demo. You can control a wide variety of graphical settings, the speed of the demo, its panning pace, and its zoom. All of that not only lets you customize the demo to work best with your hardware, but gives you a deep insight into what FreeSync is doing.
Of course the main purpose of this is to promote FreeSync 2 over its Nvidia G-Sync competition, but no one is buying either company's hardware for these specific technologies unless they already have a compatible display. Considering G-Sync screens tend to cost a couple of hundred dollars more than their FreeSync counterparts, you'd think that FreeSync would sell itself, but with AMD still struggling to match Nvidia in the high-end graphics game, perhaps demos like this will help.
