The upcoming AMD Ryzen 3000-series CPUs are going to be monstrously powerful and could be big overclockers too, if early hints of TDP and thermal potential are anything to go by. For that you might want a new motherboard as the high-end VRMs on the x570 are pretty impressive. If you want even more capabilities, however, there may also be an x590 platform, which could be the ultimately in high-end Ryzen motherboards.
Although not confirmed, WCCFTech did pick up on a tweet which suggested Asus had an x590 motherboard in the works as part of its ROG Crosshair series of boards. It was deleted, but the internet keeps everything forever, so as scant as the information is, we have it.
The x590 chipset is rumored to have a greater number of PCIExpress lanes, which would be great for those looking to build a large scale storage system. That doesn't offer much benefit to even most high-end enthusiasts however, so we wonder if this will be the name of AMD's next-generation Threadripper chipset, as it was reportedly looking to change from its typical xX99 name due to what it considered to be confusion with Intel chipsets.
As WCCFTech points out, AMD did originally plan to launch an x490 chipset with its Ryzen 2000 series CPUs, but ended up cancelling it due to high cost. The x570 is already a premium, expensive chipset platform, so it would be a surprise to see something even more high-end come out of AMD, but then it is gunning hard to turn Ryzen 3000 into more than just the value proposition. It wants to be seen as the premium, with Intel the alternative.
