Earlier this year, a team of individuals claiming to have worked on previous S.T.A.L.K.E.R. titles launched a new crowdfunding campaign for a game called Areal, which was designed as a spiritual successor of the series.
However, despite its ambitious pitch, the company behind it West Games seemed a little dodgy for most people's tastes. It claimed old S.T.A.L.K.E.R footage as evidence of the new game's existence, it promised a lot and yet only wanted $50,000 to make it and even seemed to be funding its own campaign to get access to everyone's money at the end.
Ultimately it was suspended and West Games disappeared. But now it's back! Back with a new campaign and a new game... that sounds about the same as Areal did.
It's called STALKER Apocalypse and again it uses old S.T.A.L.K.E.R. footage (though points that out this time). It does have a new trailer (above) but the voice acting is horrific and the campaign isn't a lot better.
The team behind it wants $600,000 this time, which while a much more realistic value, is hardly likely to be reached. Considering this is supposed to be using a lot of Areal's assets, it's a little disturbing that there is nothing to see beyond old S.T.A.L.K.E.R. footage and concept art images.
It's also being campaigned for on a site that nobody has ever heard of before.
