Ark Park, the virtual reality reimagining of ARK: Survival Evolved, that has players exploring a Jurassic Park like setting within the expansive bounds of virtual reality, is almost ready for release. Slated to debut in March, the educational, but still scary, game, will bring with it a tonne of dinosaurs, plenty of information and for those who want it, a pseudo survival-mode.
Ark Park was announced last year, with a Chinese team at Snail Games licensing the ARK: Survival Evolved engine and assets to craft something that's less about taming dinosaurs and having shootouts with your friends and more about exploring an island setting that's set up like a theme park. It's about seeing the dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals in their natural environments, acting as they would without human intervention.
"ARK Park is a virtual reality multiplayer adventure game designed from the ground up to immersive players in a realistic dinosaur theme park," the game's Steam Page reads. This interactive experience will fulfill your dreams of entering a world where living, breathing dinosaurs still roam the Earth. Freely explore this grand, virtual world where there's no set plot line or schedule. Join your friends in multiplayer park tours to share the thrill of witnessing over a hundred prehistoric creatures up-close and personal."
The game will feature 10 unique "scenes," which you can visit alone, or with friends using the game's built-in multiplayer functionality. You'll be charged with collecting dinosaur DNA, gathering materials and crafting items to learn more about the creators, and you'll even be able to raise your own dinosaurs throughout your excursions into the park.
Set to debut on March 22, Ark Park will require an HTC Vive to play.
