The Assassin's Creed series is one of those that rolls around once a year to dazzle with graphical improvements, an ever expanding sandbox and even more company emails to check. But it has a pretty good reputation year on year, compared to some other regular franchises that we don't need to name. With that in mind, it's no surprise that the first trailer for this year's AC game has now been released. It's called Unity and it's set during the French revolution at the end of the 18th century.
Ubisoft warns you right off the bat that this is alpha game footage, but even at this stage, it's astoundingly pretty. Chances are this is a PC build we're being shown and our console cousins won't get quite the same visual bliss, but on all platforms this should be a stunning game.
And it probably should be, as we know the developers have been working on it for three years already. They announced that fact, along with the trailer as a way of combating the leaks that took place earlier this week. Better the word and footage is official, rather than slapdash.
"We have been working on the new Assassin’s Creed for more than three years and although we weren’t quite ready to show you our full vision for a next-gen only AC, it seems Abstergo are trying to force our hand!," said a Ubisoft spokesperson. "So here’s a true first look at in-game footage from Assassin’s Creed Unity. Stay tuned – we’ll have many more exciting details for you in the months ahead!"
Currently the game is slated for an end of 2014 release, on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
