Asus Thor is a 1,200W PSU with an OLED display

In the ongoing rush to differentiate their products from everything else, Asus has a new PSU with an intriguing premise: a programmable OLED display on the side. You can use it to display the power draw of your system, the ASUS Republic of Gamers logo, or something custom entirely.

The PSU also sports RGB lighting in the form of an ROG logo and Thor designation in one of its corners. Those LEDs are compatible with ASUS' Aura Sync technology, which means that you can adjust the colors to be exactly what you want. That can mean marquee rotating colors, breathing effects, or static colors of your choice.

But none of that would be worth it if the PSU itself wasn't powerful. At 1,200W, there isn't going to be much you can't throw at it that the Asus Thor can't handle. It should be capable of tri, or even quad-channel SLI/Crossfire and an overclocked CPU, as long as we aren't talking Titans or Vegas. Whatever you run though, it won't draw much unnecessary power, as this unit has an 80 Plus Platinum efficiency. It's also made with 100 percent Japanese capacitors, so the unit should have a long life.

As with most high-end units, this one is also entirely modular and features individually sleeved cables for easy routing and better aesthetics.

The Thor is set to go on sale at $250 later this month and will be joined by an 850W version in the near future.
