ATI has finalized details of its chip, formerly known as R423 and has proceeded to unveil its full PCI-Express lineup. Putting to rest recent doubts as to the nature of the PCI-Express feature of the new range, ATI has revealed that all chips use a full, native 16-lane PCI Express bus interconnect to transfer data between the VPU and CPU in both directions simultaneously.
The RADEON X800XT PCI-E will serve as the company's flagship board but is identical to its cousin, the regular X800XT, with one difference, PCI-E. As expected then, the card will clock at 525MHz core and 560MHz memory. According to the latest information from ATIs partners, the boards based on R423 are tested, wrapped, packed and ready to ship, as soon as system builders decide to get moving, something which is expected to happen at the tail-end of this month.
