One of the most anticipated sequels among PC RPG gamers is Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord. It's been in development for at least six years -- as far as we know -- and despite continued blog posts and a few images and trailers, there are few games that have existed for this long and still maintained an excited player base. The big question that Taleworlds Entertainment regularly gets is "when is the game coming out?" And will it ever?
At Gamescom this week, lead developer and founder at Taleworlds, Armagan Yavuz sat down with PCGamesN to set the record straight.
"It’s not that we have a release date but we are not announcing it," Yavuz said. "Our philosophy is more like ‘we will release the game when it is ready.’ We don’t want to set a release date now and then miss it or delay it or postpone it."
He promises that they are working extremely hard on getting the game finished, suggesting that developers were currently in a crunch phase that saw them working 80-hour weeks over the past few months. Even then though, Taleworlds doesn't have a solid idea of when the game will be released.
That's a crazy schedule and no one at Megagames would wish such a developmental life on people, but perhaps that means they're getting close to the end of development at least?
To sooth our concerns, here's some great footage of the game released at Gamescom.
