World Basketball Manager is one of those games that will leave you wondering, "why on earth hasn't this been done already?" The game recreates the challenges of international basketball management through the most complete basketball manager simulation ever.
Developed by Greek studio Metal Fin, World Basketball Manager (WBM) uses the same gameplay principles as most soccer management titles to let you assume the role of the manager of a basketball team, giving you access to a huge database of 62 competitions, including 31 national leagues, 14 national cups and 17 international club and national team tournaments, all running simultaneously, all comprising the most comprehensive database in any sport management game today.
Hired as the general manager of a basketball club, your task is to improve your team's performance by analyzing the facts and making the right decisions. You control the various club departments (funding, medical, training facilities, youth academy, transfers, contracts) and, when match day comes, you select your team lineup, create the most appropriate strategy and lead the way to the victory by countering the opposing manager's plans.
As the season progresses, you receive feedback from press, fans, players and club administration, while your score, which is calculated based on your performance on every match, as well as your general performance over the course of each season, ranks you among the world's managers. Succeed and you will boost your career receiving job offers from clubs and national teams. Fail and you may find yourself looking for a job.
With 62 full playing national and international competitions, 658 clubs and national teams, 10,000 players with numerous physical, technical and mental attributes, the ability to manage national teams and club teams in tandem, and advanced AI based on real-time genetic algorithm that adapts and reacts to your coaching style providing non-linear results, WBM is the fantasy of every basketball fan made true.
WBM was successfully released in the Greek market in 23/12/2003 and immediately began to show its potential. Given the title's particularly warm reception in Greece, the enthusiastic response to the game demo, which has been downloaded and played by thousands of users all over the world and the steadily growing requests to sell the product directly to end-users outside Greece, Metal Fin is currently looking for international publishers.
The buzz the game has created has led to numerous international fan forums and sites.
