Although XCOM 2 is considered by many reviewers and gamers to be a fantastic game, with more than a 3:1 ratio of good to poor reviews on Steam from players, one aspect that has bugged a lot of people is load times, especially after a mission, which can seem quite redundant.
Fortunately some found an easy-skip function for much of that latter load screen. All you have to do is hit the CAPSLock key and you'll head straight to the map screen, getting rid of much of that loading which caused so many to pull their hair out in frustration.
But there is some risk associated with it. Firaxis told Eurogamer in a recent interview that the function was there, but that what it's doing is loading all of the outstanding requests into a single frame, which has the potential to crash the game. Of course the super-fast loading is nice, but is it worth risking losing all your progress in the recent battle?
As it stands, Firaxis is working on cutting back on the loading times, especially post mission, and has also promised to address some of the other technical and graphical bugs that are plaguing the game for some gamers.
In the mean time, there is always the "Stop Wasting my Time" mod, which cuts out many of the brief pauses that characters and actions have within the game, improving the rate at which you can get through the many, many battles you'll have to take part in.
But if you're playing XCOM you should expect a long game. When fighting off an alien invasion, you need to be in it for the long haul.
