For some reason, many gamers believe that the best way to get ahead in a competitive game isn't to practice, learn the ropes and take their licks in order to become better players. No they'd rather pay someone for a program to play the game for them, letting them see what the higher ranks are all about without putting in the effort.
This is just the same in Hearthstone, but publisher Blizzard isn't happy with that and recently banned a large number of players from the card collecting/battling game, in order to crack down on the practice.
It also made the developers of Crawlerbots, a Hearthstone botting app, an offer they couldn't refuse, as they've now announced that they're shutting up shop.
"Dear Community, this is our last official announcement. The recent ban wave in Hearthstone hit a lot of users", begins the update on the official site.
"After discussing this with Blizzard, it’s clear we have to take off our services/products now. Please note that we’re not going to be commenting further on this.
"Thank you all for being part of our community. We are very sad about this but you also know botting is against the rules and we all knew that the day when our products doesn't work anymore would come."
What do you guys think of bot players? Do they ruin the gaming experience?
