Blizzard has trademarked "Compete" as an eSports tournament creation system.
Filed with the USPTO, the trademark describes Compete as "an online non-downloadable Internet-based system application featuring technology enabling users to organize and promote e-sports tournaments, to create and customize tournament brackets and ladders, track tournament progress, maintain related statistics, and post results."
Blizzard is one of the key players in the eSports world. Televised StarCraft tournaments have been a stable in South Korea since the early 2000's and Heroes of the Storm was the first game to get a live ESPN2 broadcast. In fact, Blizzard previously confirmed that StarCraft II was built and tuned with eSports in mind.
That said, keep in mind that companies file trademarks regularly without following up on them. In other words, there is no guarantee that Compete will ever be launched. The trademark filing however proves that Blizzard is currently investing in the system.
