The story in Destiny 2 is a bit of a mess and Bungie seems well aware of that at this point. Instead of turning to a professional script-writer, or an author with experience in the fantasy sci-fi space to fix it though, it's instead taken on the services of one particular YouTuber, by the name of Holtzmann_YT.
While that does sound a little silly on the surface, there is some reasoning behind it. Holtzmann has been on top of Destiny gameplay since early in the first-game's life. He's been making videos about it, creating communities and discussions, suggesting improvements -- he has lived and breathed Destiny for years. More recently though, as evidenced in the video above, his content just isn't as needed.
To help remedy that, Bungie has hired him on for a three-month contract as a "gameplay specialist."
He made the announcement himself on Twitter, stating:
"Today is my first day at Bungie. For the next three months, I will be working as a gameplay specialist. If you don't hear from me, it is because I am staying focused on the tasks at hand. To everyone who watched my videos, tuned into a stream, or supported the podcast over the years, thank You. You helped me get here. I will never forget that."
He's not the only community member that Bungie has turned to though. As PCGamesN highlights, it also brought in players as part of the Bungie Community Summit, which had players offer feedback on the game's story and lore. Thanks to their and Holtzmann's input, Bungie will be making sweeping changes to the way Destiny plays. It appears very committed to turning the game around.
Would any big changes make you guys play Destiny 2 again, if you did in the first place?
