With a lot of sugar coating, Capcom is trying to sell Frank West character skin for $40.
Frank West was the original Dead Rising protagonist who was replaced in Dead Rising 2 by the less-adored Chuck Greene. A Dead Rising 2 spin-off called "Off the Record" will allow players to revisit Dead Rising 2 as Frank West with no changes to the game beyond a few extra items and a couple of new environments including an amusement park.
Concerns about the game were voiced earlier this year when it was first announced and gamers believed that the new additions should be packaged as DLC for Dead Rising 2. At the time Capcom acknowledged those concerns and announced that the game won't cost $60 and that it would be "appropriately priced."
Turns out, Capcom's appropriate price is $40.
"There's a ton of added value here," Executive producer Jason Leigh justified the game's price. "We have the new environment, weapons, combo weapons, new clothing, food items, vehicles, new bosses and the new story. It's a much bigger game than Dead Rising 2 was. Either for return players coming back, they'll get a very different experience, or for people who have never played a Dead Rising game, or perhaps have only played the first one, they're getting a full-fledged product for a budget price. That's awesome."
