Virtual reality will never be quite the same again, with VR gamers of the future hoarding sheep, brick, wheat, lumber, and ore in their new found home on the PSVR. Yes, Settlers of Catan, the classic German board game that helped kickstart the modern board gaming revolution across the world, is coming to the PlayStation Virtual Reality platform in the form of Catan VR.
Developed in conjunction with the Catan Studio and Asmodee Digital — the digital recreator of Scythe, Carcasonne, Ticket to Ride, and many more — Catan VR was originally released on the Oculus and Gear VR online stores. Now though, it's coming to PSVR too.
There will be a fleshed out multiplayer mode for those who want to play with friends and online rivals alike, but there will also be a single player component for those who want to practice against AI. There are also multiple playstyles to pick from, letting you customize which expansions are in play and what rules you'll use throughout.
The AI are ranked, but they'll also have some unique "tells" to help you try to outwit them. While they won't substitute for the guile of real-life opponents, they should serve as a good starting point for those just looking to learn the game.
Catan VR will hit the PSVR in the next few hours. It's currently available on Steam priced at $15.
