Void Bastards is a new, intriguing, strategy shooter from the mind of Jonathan Chey, head of Blue Manchu. He previously co-founded Irrational Games, which is most well known for classic atmospheric shooters like Bioshock and System Shock 2. The new game isn't quite like those titles, taking a more tongue-in-cheek approach to blasting enemies, but it still delivers a bountiful collection of unique opponents to gun down, varied environments, strategic and tactical action possibilities, and a cell shading style that could help it stand out among a glut of contemporaries.
Your job is to take control of a space soldier with various skills, kill, explore, and investigate as much of the galaxy's abandoned and not-so-abandoned space vessels, until you die. At that point, your backpack detaches, goes back to your ship, activates another fleshbag to take control of and throws you back into the action.
You'll control your weapons, your human meat shield, choose the ships you investigate, how you'll kill, how you'll die, and perhaps, how you'll escape to live another day.
Void Bastards is currently slated for a release sometime in 2019 and will debut on Microsoft's Xbox One and Windows PCs when it does.
