Chinese Law Regulates In-Game Lootboxes

China has passed a new law regulating in-game loot boxes.

Interestingly, Chinese regulators identified in-game loot boxes as a form of gambling that needs to be regulated. The new law will begin enforcement on May 1st, 2017, at which time game makers will have to publicly announce "information about the name, property, content, quantity, and draw/forge probability of all virtual items and services that can be drawn/forged" on their websites.

Game makers will also have to keep and publicly announce records of all in-game random draws for more than 90 days so that they scrutinized by the government and players.

I for one would be really interested in knowing the real draw rate of Hearthstone packs and the Overwatch lootboxes.
