Following a strange dance of leaked information and half-announcements, Vivendi Universal has finally confirmed that its critically acclaimed FPS shooter, The Chronicles of Riddick : Escape from Butcher Bay, will get a PC version.
Speculation on the existence of a PC version of the game started when U.S. games retailer, EB Games, listed a PC version of the game with a 15 November release date. Although the entry was immediately pulled, an article in Variety magazine further fueled speculation by mentioning a PC version of the game. Variety also mentioned plans for the game to become a strong franchise for Vivendi.
The success of the XBox title made the appearance of a PC version inevitable but Microsoft will definetely not be happy with the leak, especially since sales of the game are so strong and may suffer as a result of the announcement.
Sales of The Chronicles are expected to reach 250,000 with the game already having sold 110,000 in its first three weeks. The success of the game comes into stark contrast with the movie which failed to impress at the U.S. Box Office.
