Civ VI big update adds Poland and new scenarios

If you like your victories in Civlisation VI to be militaristic, then the new Polish nation may be up your street. It comes as part of the first big update for the recently released strategy title, though you can purchase aspects of it separately. The Polish civilisation is available for $5, and a secondary Viking scenario pack is also up for grabs, also priced at $5.

If you do decide that Eastern Europe will be your home and that you'll be swinging for the fences with its strong military backbone, King Jadwiga will be your leader, though they don't look like your average king. That's because Poland's king in this case, is female.

Calling the mid 14th century ruler a King, was purportedly a way to avoid handing over power to her husband, whom local lords did not want in charge.

Quite progressive for a nation some 700 years ago.

Her powers are impressive too. If you take over a territory using Golden Liberty, your religion will spread to the conquered region and adjacent ones. There are additional bonuses for Holy Sites too, as well as additional faith and culture bonuses.

In comparison, the Viking scenario pack adds six new city states and three new wonders to the game. The scenarios themselves give you various settings where you must hold off the hordes of Danes and Swedes as they stomp their way through Europe at various points throughout history.

The free winter update comes at the same time as these two DLC packs, offering some balance changes, that make space race projects and wonders cheaper depending on the epoch you choose to build them in.
