Civilization VI patch to introduce DX12 support

If you have a graphics card from the last couple of generations then you fully support DirectX 12 and can stand to benefit from the latest Civilization VI patch, which introduces support for the latest DX standard.

Firaxis has released the caveat that you will want to have your graphics card drivers updated before running the game after the patch - as taking full advantage of DirectX12 can require some performance optimisations at the GPU driver level.

Still, even if you don't have access to this latest visual enhancement tech, you can at least enjoy the other improvements and tweaks in the new patch. There's a new multipalyer scenario in there called Cavalry and Cannonades, which introduces a reduce unit maintenance cost and no strategic resources required for units, larger starting armies and a time limit of 50 turns.

Two new map types have been introduced too, adding Four Leaf Clover and Six-Armed Snowflake, with their obvious landmass layouts and player starting positions. You can play these off and online and they are designed to funnel conflict into the centre of the map.

Other additions include new notifications a time defeat for running out of time, new hotkeys, the ability to rename cities, a new visual key for barbarian scouts and additional UI highlighting to show you where cities will grow into.
