Reports are streaming in that Call of Duty: Ghosts players are being hit hard by a new spate of ban-hammer swinging from activision - some of it very unfairly. While there are plenty of legitimate cheaters and hackers getting perma-banned from the game's online servers, there are a lot of people that have never cheated the game getting caught up too.
The link is supposedly to do with hacked or modded servers, letting players level up faster than usual, reach higher prestige ranks etc. But instead of banning the creators, or those that are obviously aware of it and playing to get those upgrades, Activision is just banning anyone that's played on them. Or so it seems.
Fortunately if you're playing on PC it seems like you're mostly safe, as though many Redditors have been complaining about the issue, most if not all of them seem to be PS3 and PS4 gamers.
Activision's initial response to the revelation that people were being banned despite never having cheated was an uncaring one: "All bans are final and will not be reversed. Nor do we provide any additional information or specifics in regards to the ban."
However, there is some light at the end of this ghostly tunnel. One gamer by the name of themidnightsociety is suggesting that his account was reinstated. It took a lot of complaining, a lot of being hung up on and a lot of belligerence, but finally he's able to play CoD again.
Have any of you guys run into this issue?
