Simply by including O.J. Simpson and a knife, Take Two actually managed to raise controversy over a football game.
Take Two has been criticized for including the ill famed O.J. Simpson in their All-Pro Football 2k8, but they defended their decision by pointing out his place in football history. However, a game trailer stirred the accusations again. In the fan made All-Pro Football 2k8 trailer, O.J. Simpson scores a touchdown, prompting a large hooded mascot above the scoreboard to make stabbing motions with a large knife.
Simpson was acquitted of the murders in 1995, but two years later, a civil jury found him liable for the wrongful death of Goldman.
Take Two declined to disclose whether Simpson Knew about the stabbing mascot or not. They did however issue a statement saying that the knife stabbing motion from the mascot is "not specifically associated with O.J. Simpson, and the game does not promote any such connection."
Some people consider the whole matter an unfortunate coincidence. Others believe that Take Two is deliberately stirring controversy to promote their "E10+" rated game. Pesky hardcore gamers will notice that the whole thing started by fan made content, and will reminisce about GTA: SA's Hot Coffee.
