Counter Strike XBox Goes Gold

Counter Strike XBox Goes Gold

With H-L 2 delayed and Condition Zero taking a beating from critics, it seems that Counter Strike for XBox will be the only title holding the Valve fort until the long-awaited sequel hits the stores.
Expected to release on December 5, CS for XBox will try to keep the elements of the PC version which have made it the most played game in history. That means strong focus on multiplayer, up to 16 players, 7 new, XBox only, maps, downloadable content and all the XBox Live features.

The question that remains is whether PC gamers will bother to move away from their keyboards long enough to try the console version which will offer a big-screen experience, apparently with HDTV support and 5.1 surround sound but will force them to accept mouseless controls. Fans of the game that own Microsoft's console will, no doubt, try it but the XBox version will have to convince gamers who've never tried CS before to give it a go.

In a difficult time for Valve, Console Strike's reception, the company hopes, will mark a return to their old form.
