Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli revealed that the Wii U version of Crysis 3 was nearly finalized when they had to kill it due to lack of cooperation from Nintendo.
"We did have Crysis 3 running on the Wii U" he said. "We were very close to launching it. But there was a lack of business support between Nintendo and EA on that. Since we as a company couldn’t launch on the Wii U ourselves — we don’t have a publishing license — Crysis 3 on Wii U had to die."
Crysis 3 was released two weeks ago for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC. The game received mediocre review scores for its gameplay but it remains the current authority on real time graphics quality. We have to wonder if a Crysis 3 Wii U version with better graphics than Xbox 360 and PS3 would’ve helped Nintendo’s console shake off its reputation for being underpowered.
