Crytek, famous for AAA title such as Far Cry and Crysis in addition to their top-notch CryEngine, has decided to make all its future titles free to play.
"Right now we are in the transitional phase of our company, transitioning from packaged goods games into an entirely free-to-play experience," Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli explained. "What this entails is that our future, all the new games that we’re working on, as well new projects, new platforms and technologies, are designed around free-to-play and online, with the highest quality development."
The studio’s transition period will be over soon once all of its current contractual obligations are fulfilled. Needless to say, Crysis 3 will be sold at full retail price.
