A new mod for Dark Souls 3 lets you play the game in a very different manner than you will have ever done before. Forces of Annihilation lets you play through the game as one of its boss characters. Yes, any of them. You can play as the Slave Knight Gael, the lumbering giant Yhorm, or even Dark Eater Midir -- if your system can handle the frame rate.
As you might expect, such a game mode isn't exactly the smoothest of experiences. Dark Souls 3 wasn't designed to be played by towering monsters. You were supposed to be the diminutive figure rolling around their feet and waiting for an opportunity to strike. This mod changes all that though and while the character options are all slow, they are imposing and pack a real punch.
The mod isn't quite ready for general release just yet, but the author, Redditor DateHacks, is sending out versions of it to content creators to get them on board and hopes to release a fully working version soon.
This mod has been a passion project that they've worked on for three years, much of it by themselves. It's an ambitious mod but now that it's close to fruition, lots of people can enjoy the fruits of their labor.
