Mark June 19 in your calendars with your scaley, tentacled claw, as Darkest Dungeon is getting another expansion DLC called the Color of Madness, bringing with it all new terrifying challenges and sanity-draining corruption.
Announced late last year, the Color of Madness has been kept relatively under wraps by developer Red Hook Studios, but now, alongside the release date, we have details of a number of new features that the Lovecraftian-inspired expansion will bring.
"Some hateful shard of alien origin has streaked through the night sky, crashing into the old Miller’s farm on the outskirts of the Hamlet!" the expansion's flavor text reads. "Those unfortunate enough to witness the Comet’s arrival have been blinded by what they can only describe as a shifting, ephemeral hue of damnably abrasive intensity. There has been no word from the farm in a fortnight, save for the unearthly groaning that echoes from the ruin of the mill…"
The DLC will add a brand new region to explore: The Farmstead. It will contain new enemies including the millhands and corrupted villages who have been tainted by the comet's colorful shards. They're lead by a new boss character called The Miller, who along with the comet itself will exert all sorts of malign influences over your party as you look to take him down.
He'll be a challenge alongside his mini-boss, The Thing from the Stars, but both will also be present in a new endless-wave survival mode, which will earn players additional comet shards which can be spent in a new shop. There will be new trinkets to buy and four new district buildings to help bolster characters' skills.
Set to go on sale for $5 when it debuts, the Color of Madness will go on sale on June 19.
