Valve has finally released the revamped, Source, version of Day of Defeat. Half-Life 2 Gold and Silver owners can now download the game for free while the rest can get it for USD 19.99.
Day of Defeat has come a long way since its early days as a mod for Half-Life and Valve now offers it, rebuilt from the ground up and leveraging the Source engine's advanced features, including HDR lighting.
This version of DoD is not a simple presentation of the game on Source, such as Half-Life: Source was, but a rather more intricate effort by Valve to revive a classic and make it a game in its own right. This, it is suggested, may be the reason of the long delay Half-life 2 Gold and Silver owners have had to endure. The low price however, makes DoD tempting for all gamers.
