The Baritslava, Slovakia-based Dayz Studio, which has until now headed up development on the sandbox zombie survival game that arguably popularized the battle royale genre, has closed. This was a decision by its parent company, Bohemia Interactive, which also released a bizarre statement suggesting that the game's development would not be affected by this monumental change in its operation.
We recently closed our Bratislava studio. It was a mutual decision between management and studio leads, and we want to thank all team members for their contribution.
This decision won't affect the future dev. of DayZ, which will continue as outlined here: https://t.co/iXt1gntkTa pic.twitter.com/Ca6nKH4KcW— Bohemia Interactive (@bohemiainteract) April 27, 2020
It's fair to say that the team at the Slovakian studio has been shrinking over the past year as Bohemia moved team members to work on the new version of the game under the new engine, but still. No changes to the game's development at all?
Bohemia claims as much, suggesting that the roadmap released earlier this year proves it.
Do you guys still play DayZ? What's it like these days?
