If you felt like yesterday's debut of the Dying Light trailer which saw cooperative players gunning down zombies wasn't gore filled enough with its destructible skeletons and pieces of flesh that went flying with every swing of a nail filled bat, then maybe today's offering of undead slaughter will tickle your fancy.
Dead Island 2: Sunshine and Slaughter has just been released, showing off pre-alpha gameplay footage and apparently, its zombies are essentially just sacks of uncongealed, bright red, oxygenated blood, as they burst open when hit like a gorey pinata.
In the trailer we see weapons of various types, including elemental weapons like fire bombs and freezing guns. You can electrify, punch, gut, slash, snap, mash or explode zombies at your pleasure, though how this will stay exciting over a long period of time remains to be seen.
Dead Island 2 is set for release on PC, Xbox One and PS4 in spring next year and is not being developed by the creators of the original games, Techland, but Yager Development, which has previously handled Spec Ops the Line.
