The famous Australian Classification Board has decided to revoke the PG 13 rating which was granted to the sexy 3DS game Dead or Alive: Dimensions, prompting authorities to pull it off shelves.
Similar to what happened with Manhunt 2 and Mortal Kombat, this means that the game is effectively banned in Australia where it is illegal to sell unclassified games.
When the game was submitted for classification by the Australian Classification Board, it received a PG rating with a warning for "mild violence and sexualized gameplay." This is not entirely unfair for a game that features scantily clad women fighting in addition to a photo-taking mode where the player can take upskirt shots of the virtual girls.
After DOA: Dimensions was granted its PG rating in Australia, European distributer Bergsala refused to ship it in Sweden, Norway, and Denmark and announced that the game might be violating local child pornography laws.
Bergsala's decision prompted the Australian Classification Board to review the game's girl ages. Although the Australian version doesn't contain any reference to that info, it turned out that the European version of the game lists it and some of the girls are under 18 years old.
Nintendo of Australia noted that it has picked the rights to distribute the game in Australia after it was classification request was filed by another company. Nintendo acknowledged that the original filing was inadequate. Nintendo resubmitted the game for classification and it will be stay off the Australian market until it gets reclassified.
