Dead Island 2 is still in production, according to publisher Deep Silver, despite no news about the game being released in well over a year. The production hasn't been easy, with the studio behind it changing at least once, but that was back in March last year and we've not heard a peep about it since.
While Deep Silver said that there had been issues about the way the game was being made - hence the changing of the developer working on it - that all was well following the move. But again, that was in March 2016.
This has prompted many fans to assume that the game was either internally cancelled, or had entered into some kind of developmental hell which could consign it to the vaporware lists for all eternity. But apparently not. Deep Silver is convinced that the game will see the light of day, but when it anyone's guess.
"Dead Island 2 is in development at Sumo Digital, and we are excited by the progress the team are making with Deep Silver's most successful IP. When we are ready to share more information, we will," Deep Silver told Eurogamer.
There are a lot of zombie games now though. Since the original Dead Island game and its expansion, we've had Dying Light, there's the upcoming Days Gone, a new Dead Rising and a whole host of other zombie experiences.
Do we really need another? Are you guys excited by the idea of a new Dead Island game?
