Recently we've heard a lot of talk from game publishers that used game sales is hurting their business, and it seems that they are have started to take action to limit it as much as possible.
The first sale doctrine is a legal right that nobody can hinder, but game publishers are offering one time exclusive content and bonuses to encourage new game sales.
New copies of Epic's Gears Of War 2 will come with a single-use download code that rewards you with five exclusive multiplayer maps that are not available any other way. Rock Band's spinoff title, AC/DC Live: Rock Band Track Pack, will also sport a similar one-time code that allows players to export its tracks to Rock Band or Rock Band 2. Rock Band 2 itself comes with 20 free downloadable songs as an incentive for original buyers.
Another game with original buyers' incentives is NBA Live 09 which comes with a one year NBA LIVE 365 subscription. NBA LIVE 365 is a new service that updates the game daily with real life roster and players' stats and it costs $19.99 without the one-time code redemption.
