Devs block streaming of Ratchet and Clank end cinematics

As much as streaming games can give us all a chance to look at games before or instead or playing them ourselves, not every developer likes that their entire many-years of work are available for all to see. Indeed, spoilers are a much larger concern than they used to be because of it.

In the case of the new Ratchet and Clank game, Sony has released an updated patch - 1.02 - which disables the ability to stream the game's final cinematics on the PS4. Earlier parts of the game, earlier custscenes and videos, they're all fair game, but as you get towards the end of the main story, you can't use the built in capture mode to share it with others.

This is designed to preserve the plot for more people and to prevent any obvious leaks early on.

Of course many people with capture cards and hardware recording won't have much of a problem getting around this potential block, but some streamers may be halted in their tracks.

Ratchet and Clank should now be available in the U.S. and will appear in other territories later this month.

Are you one of the early buyers of the remake? What do you think so far?
